Okay hear me out. I’m sure someone has written about this much more eloquently than I, but: I’m not sure when modern parenting meant not leaving the house without a bag full of snacks. But in our house, this leads to more meal refusal, more pickiness, more whining. I’ve been intentionally taking less food out with us during the day, and miraculously, my children are becoming more familiar with what it feels like to be hungry, and then eating lunch and dinner with less complaining. They’re hungry! They’ll eat what’s in front of them! How did I not grok this before? Perhaps you could also pack less snacks!?
